Hey everyone,
This is Jay out on my EagleLaunch “cloud” and I just wanted to let you know from time to time I go into a creative lull. Â I am presently in one of those lulls and it happens. Â There are some things “brewing” as I will be writing a blog about dreams, 24 hours, and hands (these are all titles without content).
Anyway if any of you have anything you would like for me to write about from a recovery or self-improvement or business standpoint…please shoot me an email at jay@eaglelaunch.com. Â I will also field any questions you may have and promise to keep all of this confidential.
Maybe my lull is starting to end as there were several thoughts that jumped out at me this morning when I was doing my devotion. Â I was reading scripture written by Paul in the book of Philippians:
Philippians 3:13, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Â Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (New Living Translation)
After reading this verse I couldn’t help but think about all of the people out there who are wandering aimlessly with no direction and no eternal prize to look forward to. Â I also thought about all the people living in the past . Â Or how about the people you know who “think” they have nothing to look forward to?
Then I read further in Chapter 3 of Philippians and in verse 19 Paul says;“They are headed for destruction. Â Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.”
“Their God is their appetite.” Â Hmm…very interesting. Â So this is what Paul was really saying…don’t miss out on the greatest prize of all because your thinking is short term and you are unable to curb your appetite for what the world has to offer. Â
After reflecting on this scripture and thinking about the fact I am going to die some day (as my pastor often reminds us); Â I couldn’t help but picture myself dying with my eye on the prize and not on the past or on worthless worldly possessions. Â What a great way to die…but there is more.
This scripture also tells me I have work to do because Jesus want us to get everyone looking toward the prize instead of looking at the horrors of the past or the lies of the world. Â (The devil loves those who live in the past and are in love with the lies of the world.)
So I guess how I want to picture myself at my death is not only looking forward at the eternal prize but also having a wake behind me that has attracted others’ hearts to the prize…all while ticking the devil off!
Now that is what I call a race worth running and winning.
