I always had a natural disposition to look at the world as being a glass half empty until I emptied my world completely by the time I was 28 years old.

When my life hit bottom I had nowhere to go but up and my upward climb began with the new thoughts I began allowing to inhabit my mind.  I found that I didn’t have a drinking or drugging problem as much as I had a thinking problem.

In my early years of sobriety I had to practice thinking and speaking hope and power in order to counter the thoughts the devil was trying to get me to buy into.  It took a lot of work, but it was well worth it as I, along with God, changed my entire world by changing my thinking.

Pray for effective thoughts.  Picture what your life would be like if you were always viewing life as a glass half full, plan for this new life of positivity, and practice living and speaking it.  It also helps to read the scripture from Philippians below on a routine basis until you break the negative thought cycle.

Philippians 4:8 (NIV), “Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
