Pride

Too much pride can kill you.

God at Center-Mental PPTWe continue to reflect on excerpts from my book FEAR-PROOF as we study the Mental component of our Wheel of Life.  As our thoughts go, so goes our life…

Too much pride can kill you…

When I was in my final downward spiral with addiction I couldn’t ask anyone for help because I viewed it as a form of weakness.  This thinking was from the devil and it darn near killed me.

The devil loves to use our pride in order to make us less than what God built us to be.  We fear embarrassment of looking weak or dumb or stupid, etc…

Pride often causes us to turn away from God instead of toward him; more behavior the devil loves.

If you are battling pride and feel as though you are losing; pray for God to remove your pride, picture laying it at His feet, and let him work through your perceived weaknesses and you will become stronger than you ever imagined.

For when we are weak (in God’s presence) we become strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV), “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Proverbs 11:2, Proverbs 16:18

What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to struggle with pride?
