We continue to reflect on excerpts from my book FEAR-PROOF as we study the Mental component of our Wheel of Life. As our thoughts go, so goes our life…
“Distractions do not rob me of my focus. If I’m distracted, I obviously had no focus.â€Â  ~Jay Meyer
I already wrote about procrastination. I believe the same type of fear causing us to procrastinate, i.e. fear of failure, also causes us to be vulnerable to distractions. The enemy loves to distract us as distractions cause us to go off course from our vision and purpose.
Some blame their problem of being easily distracted on Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). I have learned to handle my ADHD tendencies by spending time alone connecting with God first thing in the morning, exercising most every day, and having a plan with a purpose for the day.
Co-dependency is a distraction seen quite often in the recovery community and occurs when we let other peoples’ problems and challenges become our own.
Examples of other distractions include the internet, gossip, quarrels, resentment, pity parties, worry, illness, television etc…
The bottom line is–distractions are easy to find if we don’t have a life-purpose and vision to focus on.
Pray for focus, Pray for focus, Pray for focus, Pray for focus…
Proverbs 13:4 (NIV), “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.”

What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to struggle with distractions?
