Reflection
The opening quote took me back nearly forty years, to a chemical dependency center where I sat feeling as though my life was falling apart.
In early recovery, I struggled not only to stay sober but to see any hope for my future. Little did I know that God wasn’t finished with me. Throughout the recovery process, God slowly but surely pruned away what needed to go to make room for something better.
Pruning rarely looks and feels like progress. After all, something is being cut away. But healthy pruning makes room for new growth.
Life works much the same way. Plans change. Doors close. Things we cling to disappear. We see loss. God may see opportunity.

The trees at Serenity Acres are in their annual season of letting go, shedding their leaves without resistance.
Come spring, they’ll awaken, bursting with vibrant green and breathing new life into the world around them.
Why?
Because nature doesn’t resist the Gardener as He does His work.
I need to be more like nature.
How about you?

Could something I’ve viewed only as loss also be creating room for growth?
