Reflection
A friend recently told me how happy he is in his job. For years, he’d endured one downsizing after another. A man of faith, he prayed continuously for the right opportunity. The hardest part? Waiting.
When an opportunity finally came, it was well outside his comfort zone. He took it anyway, and a year later, he’s happier than ever.
His story reminded me of something autumn teaches us.
Seeds don’t ripen overnight, and seasons don’t change on our schedule.
A farmer can plant, nurture, and pray for rain, but he can’t rush the harvest.
Neither can we.
Sometimes what looks like inactivity is actually preparation. Perhaps God is growing something in us before revealing what’s next.
My friend thought he was waiting for the right job, but I have a feeling God was preparing his spirit for it.
Don’t mistake a slow season for a stagnant life.
The seeds may already be growing.
Give them time to ripen.
Soul Search
Where am I becoming impatient with God’s timetable? What could God be preparing me for?
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” ~Galatians 6:9
