Falling Forward – Day 16 – Slow Down to Speed Up

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson —

Reflection

We live among farmland, and this time of year we watch our farmers work tirelessly to bring in the harvest.

I’m not a farmer, but I imagine they look forward to winter. The fields rest, the pace slows, and there’s time to repair, plan, and prepare for spring.

Winter slows things down. Energy moves inward. Roots stay alive while visible growth pauses. Nothing seems to be happening, yet the next harvest depends on it.

Our physical, mental, and spiritual lives need these “winter” seasons too: to sow and reap our best, we need time to rest, plan, and prepare for what’s next.

Sometimes we become more by slowing down and doing less.

What parts of my life need to slow down in order to create a more abundant harvest?
