A lie many long-term alcoholics believe is, “It’s too late.” Too much damage. Too many bridges burned. Why bother?
I watched a man walk into AA at 70. He had lost nearly everything—especially his family.
But he kept showing up. Day after day. One meeting at a time.
We told him the same thing: any chance of rebuilding what he had destroyed started with not picking up a drink.
Five years later, he walked forward to receive his sobriety token. He thanked his Higher Power, then pointed—through tears—to the table where his family sat, celebrating him.
Fear says it’s too late. Faith says start now.
God redeems lost seasons.
