Faith Over Fear – Day 22 – Fear of Being Alone

If you are lonely when you're alone, you are in bad company.

— Jean-Paul Sartre —

Reflection

In today’s noisy world, silence can create discomfort, so we fill the space—checking our phones, staying connected to every conversation, and needing to know what everyone else is doing.

Beneath that constant awareness often lies a deeper worry: If I’m not connected, I might be forgotten.

But solitude is not the enemy. In fact, it is often where God does His best work.

Jesus regularly stepped away from the crowds to be alone with the Father.

When we constantly surround ourselves with noise and information, we may unintentionally crowd out the still, small voice of God.

The fear of being alone can keep us chasing activity, approval, and control.

Faith invites us to something different…quiet trust.

God is present in the stillness, shaping our thoughts, calming our fears, and reminding us who we are.

Sometimes the healthiest company we can keep is the quiet presence of God.

Sometimes the unhealthiest company we can keep is the loud presence of the world.

BTW…Something I gave up for Lent is social media, and I haven’t missed it one bit.

Soul Search

When you find yourself constantly checking in on what others are doing or fearing being left out, pause and ask: Am I avoiding being alone with my thoughts—or am I making space to be alone with God?

Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
