Faith Over Fear – Day 19 – Fear Of Being Me

Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.

Reflection

I recently listened to a sermon by Andy Stanley of North Point Community Church, and one line lodged in my spirit: “You don’t realize how strong your integrity is until you lose something because of it.”

When I heard those words, I immediately thought of at least four times I walked away from significant opportunities because my values and beliefs didn’t align with those of the leaders involved.

There will be moments when standing for what you believe means losing approval, opportunity, influence, or even relationships.

That’s when fear surfaces.

  • Fear of rejection.
  • Fear of being labeled.
  • Fear of standing alone.

The fear of being yourself and standing on your beliefs often reveals where you’ve attached your identity.

If your worth depends on acceptance, you’ll compromise to keep it.

If your identity is rooted in Christ, you can endure loss without losing yourself.

When you lose something because you stood firm, you haven’t lost; you’ve proven who you are.

Soul Search

  • Where am I shrinking back to protect comfort or approval?
  • What belief do I hold that I’m afraid to live out publicly?
  • Is my identity anchored in Christ—or in acceptance?

1 Corinthians 16:13, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
