Reflection:
Recently, I was with a group from a faith-based organization, and as an icebreaker, we shared how we approach problems. I was the only one who took the first step in approaching all problems with prayer. That struck me. Not because I think I’m special — but because I assumed it would be normal…sitting with faith-based leaders???
Another time, in a leadership class I was facilitating, after sharing that my personal transformation came from doing my imperfect best to follow Jesus, someone wrote in a post-class survey that I should “be careful” since not everyone believes in Him. I smiled. That’s exactly why I share.
The pressure to be quiet about faith is real. Culture calls it sensitivity. Scripture calls it fear.
I love it when professional athletes profess their faith in Jesus from a world stage.
We’re not asked to shout on street corners to bring attention to Him.
We’re called to live so consistently, so humbly, so boldly that our lives preach before our mouths ever open.
Silence often feels safer. But the Good News was never meant to be hidden and you don’t have to be perfect to profess the good news…I write from experience.
Soul Search
Where have I allowed fear of rejection, criticism, or cultural pressure to silence my faith?
Is my life reflecting Christ clearly enough that, when I do speak His name, it carries credibility and love?
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” — Romans 1:16
