Excellence is a Process

No man ever reached to excellence in any one art or profession without having passed through the slow and painful process of study and preparation.

Way back in December I signed up to do a full Ironman triathlon. I’ve done several 1/2 Ironman’s but never a full one. I did this for a couple of reasons:

  1. I’ve always wanted to be able to say I completed the most grueling athletic event known to man.
  2. I’m crazy.

If there is one thing I have realized during my training over the past 5 months, (I only have 4 months to go), is that study and preparation are the keys.

Preparation not only involves the actual practice and training, but includes taking time each Sunday to put together a training plan for the week, as I still work and have a family which comes before my training.

What are you trying to do with your life?

If you aren’t making progress, take a look at how much study and preparation you are putting forth.

Proverbs 15:14, “A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.” (NLT)

Proverbs 24:7, “Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.
