Some random thoughts on ego and egotism:
- According to Webster egotism (e·go·tism), is “the practice of talking and thinking about oneself excessively because of an undue sense of self-importance.”
- In the recovery community we are taught EGO means Edging God Out and ego is one of the many weapons the devil uses to try and separate us from God. Â Successful recovery is dependent upon having a personal relationship with God.
- It’s hard for God to be God when we are playing God.
- There is nothing wrong with having confidence and quiet confidence is even more powerful. Â Boastful confidence is when ego comes in and God is edged out.
How’s your ego?
Our ability to trust and receive the amazing powers of God is inversely proportionate to our ego. Â The higher our ego, the less we tap into God’s awesomeness.
