Don’t Believe It – Day 16 – You Are Who You Are

Your struggle may shape your story, but it never defines your worth.

THE LIE

“I am defined by my diagnosis, addiction, or struggle.”

REFLECTION

In August of 1987, I had to face a hard truth: I was an addict and an alcoholic.

But addiction was my condition and became part of my testimony; it never became my identity.

The enemy loves to turn our struggles into labels and our labels into prisons.

God does the opposite. He calls us by name and reminds us whose we are.

A diagnosis, addiction, or mental health battle is something you walk through, not who you are.

Scripture is filled with broken people who discovered that God’s grace was bigger than their weakness.

Your struggle does not disqualify you from purpose.

In God’s hands, it can become part of your testimony and a source of hope for others…I always write from experience.

SOUL SEARCH

What label have you accepted that God never gave you? Ask Him to replace that lie with the truth of your identity as His beloved child.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! — 1 John 3:1
