Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening–it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.”
My thought for the week (10/18/10) “success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day,” comes from one of the most famous motivational speakers, entrepreneurs and quote machines of all time; Jim Rohn.
What is interesting is when looking at the several dozen quotes Rohn is known for most of them circle back to discipline. Another favorite of mine from Jim is “positive change happens because of inspiration or desperation.”
Almost 2,000 years ago in the book of Hebrews (see above) we read about discipline. I believe the phrase “no pain, no gain” came from Hebrews 12:11. 🙂
Discipline separates great from good. Discipline requires the sacrifice of the short term good for the benefits of the long term great.   Discipline is all about denying the desires of our wants and replacing them with actions that are derived from our needs.
I don’t know about you, but discipline does not come easy to me. It is the reason I came up with my P.E.A.C.E. acronym years ago. As long as I have a Plan, put forth maximum Effort, keep a positive  Attitude, work well with the people in the Community around me and do things that give me Energy (eat right, sleep right, exercise right) as well as turn everything over to God…discipline happens.
And when discipline happens “a PEACEFUL harvest of right living” happens whether you want it to or not.
Oh, and by the way there are only two steps in implementing discipline into your life; start and continue.
