This is my final writing focused on the genius gifted to us from the amazing journey of Corrie ten Boom.
I hope you took some time to read “The Hiding Place.” It certainly helped me keep my first-world “problems” in perspective while gaining a tremendous amount of respect for the God-sized work Corrie and her family did during World War II.
I believe the opening quote serves as a perfect segue to the new year that awaits us.
The other day I noticed a quote Lori had captured and written on a sticky note…she knows I’m always up for a good quote–it read–“2021 was like riding a horse backwards without a saddle.”
I guess it would be safe to say that 2020 was like riding a horse in the dark, backwards without a saddle.
We’ve just endured a couple of interesting years due to a once-in-a-century pandemic.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve learned a lot about myself, the world, and the world’s contents over the past two years.
Mostly, I learned to draw closer to God as the air around me not only was filled with an invisible bug but also somewhat-awkward energy that made me feel as though the world was on edge…an edge created from fear.
Corrie ten Boom’s most famous quote (IMO), “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God” (see my 12/24/21 writing–“Future”), is what got me through most days, especially the days where I got news of friends dying because of this powerful little virus. Especially the day I lost one of my best friends and former business partner (see my 11/07/21 writing–“Next Level Blessings”).
With all of this being said, I have one question for me and you:
What are we going to do about it?
Said differently, considering all of the unique and different experiences the past two years have given us, how will we utilize them to make us better people?
Reminder…
“This is what the past is for! Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives, is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see.” ~Corrie ten Boom
My prayer for all of you is that you will utilize the experiences of the past two years to make 2022 your best year ever!
Romans 8:5, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
PEACE.
