December Boom and Inneficient Thoughts

Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a center of fear.

Reflection

When I saw the opening quote, I was reminded of a practice I instituted in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every morning, during my devotion time, I read, digest, and commit to attempting to live the words of the Apostle Paul as noted in Philippians 4:8, “Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” This scripture is just beneath the prayer list in my journal. Next to it is the acronym, “TOVO,” meaning Thoughts Of Value Only.

It’s my way of fighting off the devil’s acronym “TOCO,” Thoughts Of Crap Only.

I don’t know how often I’ve said “TOVO” to myself over the past couple of years, but it sure helps shield me from the crappy thoughts the enemy tries to get me to dwell on due to fear and worry.

How would you describe the majority of your thoughts?

Do they bring value to your life and the lives of those around you?

If you have to worry, worry about how you are going to bring value to the world.
