Daily focalPOINT – Whipping the devil – Day 42 – Pride

Too much pride can kill a man…

…I know this to be true first-hand.

When I was into my final downward spiral in addiction I would not ask anyone for help as I viewed it as a form of weakness…the devil had convinced me of this and this thinking darn near killed me.

The devil loves to use our pride in order to make us less than what God built us to be and/or to destroy our lives.  We fear embarrassment of looking weak or dumb or stupid etc…

Pride often causes us to turn away from God instead of toward him…more behavior the devil loves.

If you are battling pride and feel as though you are losing; pray for God to remove your pride and let him work through your “weakness” and you will become stronger than you ever imagined.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  2 Corinthians 12:9-10.
