Whipping the devil – Day 23 – Doubt in God

“Any belief worth having must survive doubt.”

The devil loves to mess with those who doubt there is a God.

I’ve always said sitting on the fence with your faith is the worst place to be as it not only hurts the crotch but it creates a huge opportunity for the devil to play.  Faith is something where you are either in or your are out, there is no such thing as faith in-between.  How can anyone have a “little bit” of faith?

The best way to overcome doubt with God (I still have my “moments” but moments are better than days, weeks, months and years) is to try to find Him in all situations.

The devil tries his best to get us to not see God.  If he can keep us mired in our own “crap” it is real easy to miss out on “God moments” in our lives.  Our “crap” serves as the devil’s blinders.

Last year I went to Indiana after a monster tornado hit.  My friend’s home had been destroyed and his Dad’s life had been taken.  My emotions and thoughts were all over the place as I approached the slab a home once stood on. I can remember thinking “where is God in all this?”

Then, about thirty minutes later here comes this group of people all dressed in orange shirts with “Samaritan’s Purse” written on them.  They had come from all over to help the tornado victims.  Upon arrival they formed a circle in prayer, made some decisions that gave them direction and they worked and worked and worked.  Throughout the day the Red Cross, The Salvation Army and many other concerned citizens stopped by and dropped off water and food.

I had never felt so much love on a 1 acre lot in my entire life.

God was there as He always is.

Tragedy may take a life and destroy a home and although the home is gone forever, the life, with a belief in Jesus, is simply transferred to a better place.  The devil wants us to think death and destruction are final.  Whereas those of us with faith, although it is sometimes hard, KNOW death is a part of eternal life and destruction is an opportunity for God to show up and give the doubters an opportunity to see Him at work.

If you doubt God, pray for confidence, picture what a life of “all in” faith would look like, plan for it and practice having faith and better yet get out of yourself and help someone in need.  Eventually you will begin wearing a different set of glasses and see a loving and caring God in all situations regardless of the “bull” the devil tries to feed you.

James 1:5-8, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  Those who doubt should not think they will receive anything from the Lord; they are double-minded and unstable in all they do.”
