Daily focalPOINT – Grateful Story

“God’s miracles are not intended only for the recipient.”  ~JJM

Last night I spoke with a group of young men and women from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  My message was focused on the fact we become the decisions we make in our lives and even in difficult circumstances, it is our decision on how we will handle the circumstances.

Anyway I shared the condensed version of my life story.  A life almost lost because of poor decisions and a life blessed because of good decisions.

For those of you who’ve heard my story, I still make a point to share with the audience the fact my best decision ever was the decision I made to not only accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior but to try my best to follow Jesus and his teachings.

I am so grateful for that decision I made over 25 years ago because it has changed my life.  Jesus didn’t do it for me, but He certainly gave me the desire, willingness, the mentors and handbook on how to get it done.

I’ve been challenged more than once over the years about whether or not Jesus is what He says He is.  As C.S. Lewis wrote in his book Mere Christianity; “if Jesus wasn’t what He said He was then the only option would be for Him to be a lunatic and a liar” (my words).

Bottom line…Truth or Lunatic and Liar…trying to follow Jesus has changed my life for the good and I have the story to prove it.

If you are wondering what meaning there is to my quote at the start of this blog, think of this–If you’ve been the recipient of a “God Miracle” what good is it if you do not share your story with others?

Today I am grateful for my story and even more grateful for the thousands of people I’ve been able to share it with…correction…it is not my story, but instead a God-story lived through me.

One of my favorite pieces of scripture about Jesus’ transformative powers is in John 5:1-8

He won’t pick up your mat for you but he certainly will make you ask yourself whether or not you are ready to pick it up and when you do you will have a God-story to share.

…if you already have a God-story…share it…it was written for others.

I’m impressed, I have to say. Seriously rarely do I encounter a blog that is both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the issue is something that not sufficient folks are speaking intelligently about. I am quite pleased that I stumbled across this in my search for some thing relating to this.
