“A belief in God helps provide a foundation to arbitrate our decisions. Without this foundation, we are condemned to live essentially formless lives.”  ~Armstrong Williams
I often find myself feeling sorry for people who have no belief in God.
I’ve experienced first hand how powerful a relationship with God through his son Jesus can become and want everyone to have this relationship. It not only gives more meaning to life but it certainly helps keep things in perspective.
Once I got serious about my faith journey my perspective on everything changed including how I viewed success, failure, joy, tribulation, people and even tragedy.
Recently I’ve been blogging a lot about leadership and it takes a tremendous amount of drive, discipline and focus to be an effective leader. But above all other leadership traits there is none more important than the ability to stay humbly grounded and for me that means staying grounded in my faith.
The following is a short prayer from the book of Psalms that is worth reading daily to help you stay grounded:
Psalms 119:33-37
Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end.
Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart.
Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I will find delight.
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.
