“Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself than of other people, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself at all.” ~William Temple
In Jim Collin’s book “Good to Great” he shares a chart on what he considers the progression of a leader. Standing at the top of the chart and considered a Level 5 Leader is one who conducts himself with personal humility combined with an intense professional will.
I have had the pleasure to observe some Level 5 leaders in my life and the majority of them have strong beliefs in not just their professional abilities but also the people around them, but more importantly a belief in a greater power or greater order they are conducting business for.
When a business is about a higher order, i.e. God, amazing things begin to happen to the business and the leader running the business…I write from experience.
It takes a humble spirit to turn a business over to God on a daily basis because in that moment the leader is demonstrating a “weakness.”
But if the leader does any Bible reading at all he will understand power and strength is gained when we share our weakness with our Lord.
James 4:6, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.”
Never be too proud to ask the maker of the universe for a little help…amazing things will happen.
