Colossians 3:2, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
I know; easier said than done.
When things are really challenging and intense in your life a great way to “escape” is to take your thoughts to eternity and heaven.
I know for me personally, I often catch myself yearning for the day where I’m sitting with my family in heaven and Jordan is finally able to talk…that picture is the most beautiful picture I have of heaven.
The key is to not wait until life becomes challenging and intense to desire the glory heaven brings. You can do it daily if you seek first His kingdom and the eternal rewards first, instead of chasing the wind, i.e. the earth and its rewards. Eternal living is not only for the dead, it is for the living who’ve gained new life (vita nova) through the acceptance of Jesus Christ and the free gift of the Holy Spirit.
It is simply a matter of priorities.
The life with peace and joy is not a life without trials and tribulations it is simply a life built upon His kingdom first.
A life of peace and joy, regardless the circumstance, is built best by putting God first in all you do one day at a time.
