Today is Good Friday.
Good Friday, almost 2000 years ago, was the devil’s version of a March Madness basketball championship…or at least that’s what he–the maddest of the maddest, thought.
It was the day Jesus was crucified.
In those days, death by crucifixion was the most severe and painful form of punishment and was reserved for the worst criminals.
On His way to His crucifixion, Jesus was mocked, beaten, spit on, whipped, and forced to carry the weapon (the Cross) that would take His life. The crucifixion involved driving nails through His hands and feet and leaving him to hang while He suffered a slow and excruciatingly painful death due to asphyxiation.
The enemy thought it had won a significant victory.
God knew that, through this act, He was taking all the sins of the world upon Himself and dying for them so that we, who are born into sin, may be forgiven and reap the fruit of eternal life in the here and now and in the afterlife.
The worst day in history became the doorway to the greatest gift—grace.
Reflecting on my darkest moments, I could feel the devil tugging at me. Every day, he tried to convince me that it was too late, that I was too far gone, that I couldn’t be fixed, that my reputation was tarnished for good, and that I had nothing to live for.
Then, in my darkest moment, out of no other reason than I didn’t want to die, I turned to God and said the most powerful prayer known to humankind, “GOD HELP ME!”
Since that moment, my life hasn’t been perfect or a bed of roses, but it has been significantly better since I turned to the Light to destroy the darkness.
Is the devil messing with you today?
Is he telling you, you can’t, you aren’t good enough, you aren’t worthy, you don’t need help, you cannot overcome, etc.? Read the previous 44 writings, as I am sure you can relate to one or two ways the devil is trying to trick you, so you will stay in the darkness.
God beats the devil every day of the week because darkness cannot eliminate Light.
Pray for the “Light” to turn on in your life.
Picture how alive your life will be.
