The opening quote is so true.
The devil loves for us to hold onto our secrets, whereas God already knows our secrets and wants us to free ourselves from them.
Fear of freeing ourselves from our secrets is a horrible place to be as it usually leads to guilt and shame which are paralyzing forces.
There are three steps in freeing yourself from the bondage of secrets:
- Pray for the willingness to turn your secret over to God.Â
- When you are willing, share the secret with a trusted mentor and then along with your mentor, prayerfully turn your secret over to God.
- If any shame or guilt returns, prayerfully turn it over to God as often as you need.
Letting go of secrets will open doors to parts of your world you never knew existed.
Psalm 44:21 (NIV), “…would God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?”
