Crushing Fear – Day 31 – Finish Strong

College basketball’s March Madness is in full swing.

I enjoy watching the games, but I especially like watching the second half of the games as I’m always guaranteed some wild finishes.

The winners in this tournament are the teams who finish strong.  The winners in life also finish strong.  Starting something isn’t nearly as difficult as finishing it.

We are less than two weeks away from closing out our Lenten series of “Crushing Fear.”  What do you say we close it out like champions and FINISH STRONG?!

The best way to crush the devil and all of his fear antics is to have an unwavering faith in God.  Faith beats fear every day of the week.  Close strong by making a promise to yourself to turn any and all character defects born from fear over to God the minute they rear their ugly heads.

I developed a ritual many years ago that I still use today whenever the devil tries to suck me into his fear games.  I picture myself turning the fear over to God as I speak the following at the devil:  “By the blood of Jesus, devil be gone.”  I used this ritual as recently as yesterday while I was on a long bike ride when my mind went somewhere it shouldn’t have gone.

What do you do when fear starts to infiltrate your thinking?  Do you turn it over to God or do you allow your mind to start racing?  For some of us our minds are like bad neighborhoods, we shouldn’t go there alone.

There are all kinds of upsets during March Madness but God beating the devil is never an upset–it is the way God created things…use Him to overcome your fears and FINISH STRONG!

2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.”

Reflection:

What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to not finish what you started?

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Philippians 4:11-13, John 16:24, Romans 8:23-28
