Crushing Fear – Day 27 – Unforgivableness

Sometimes there is a very fine line between experiencing peace on earth and hell on earth. The line is often named forgiveness.

Thought

The burdens of resentment, shame, and guilt are heavy loads to carry, and the enemy loves for our load to be heavy.

We carry resentments because we consider an act toward us or against someone close to us as “unforgivable.”

Shame and guilt are feelings created from what we believe are “unforgivable” acts of our own.

There is also shame and guilt that rears its ugly head in the form of a co-dependency problem where somehow we believe we are responsible for the pain another person has inflicted on us.

Fear is at the root…

At the root of our unwillingness to forgive ourselves and others is fear and at the center of fear is the devil.

Living in an unforgivable state is like living in hell on earth.

If you find yourself dwelling in the world of unforgivableness, give the following a try:

PRAY for God to give you the willingness to forgive and/or be forgiven daily for 90 straight days. When you pray this prayer of willingness, also pray for peace for yourself and/or the person your prayers are focused on.  If you do this, there is a good chance your attitude of “unforgivableness” will be lifted from you…I write from experience.

Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Reflection:

What beliefs, thoughts, and actions cause you to struggle with forgiving yourself or others?

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Ephesians 4:31-32, Luke 17:3-4, 1 John 1:9
