Crushing Fear – Day 26 – Self Talk

Don't be a victim of negative self-talk. Remember, you are listening.

— Bob Proctor —

Negative self-talk is another human action born from fear. There are plenty of time wasters but none more debilitating than this one.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about negativity.  It is one thing to have a negative outlook on life but it’s even worse to have a negative outlook on ourselves.

God wants our thoughts to give us peace and joy as well as confidence in our abilities.

The devil tries his best to get us to dwell on self-destructive thoughts.  These thoughts are nothing but time wasters and often create anxiety that turns into paralysis if we aren’t careful.

I’ve always had to deal with a “negative committee in my head” and every now and then I visualize myself “firing” the members of the committee who are talking negatively to me.  This sounds corny, but it works for me.

Our days are numbered and we are living on borrowed time.  Therefore don’t waste a minute of your life talking crap to yourself–talk truth, hope, and possibilities…and fire any of the crazy committee members in your head as often as you need. 🙂

Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

Reflection:

What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to waste time on negative self-talk?

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Philippians 4:8-9, 1 Peter 5:8, Proverbs 4:23
