Self-talk

Negative self-talk is another human action born from fear.

There are plenty of time wasters, but none more debilitating than this one.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about negativity.  It is one thing to have a negative outlook on life, but it’s even worse to have a negative outlook on ourselves.

Fact

God wants our thoughts to generate inner peace and joy as well as confidence in our abilities.

The enemy tries its best to get us to dwell on self-destructive thoughts.  These thoughts are nothing but time wasters and often create anxiety that turns into mental paralysis if we aren’t careful.

Solution

I’ve always had to deal with a “negative committee in my head,” and now and then, I visualize myself “firing” the committee members who are talking negatively to me.  This sounds corny, but it works most of the time.

Truth

Our days are numbered, and we are living on borrowed time.  Therefore don’t waste a minute of your life talking crap to yourself–talk truth, hope, and possibilities…and fire any of the crazy committee members in your head as often as you need. 🙂

More Truth

Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
