Self-talk

Negative self-talk is another human action born from fear.

There are plenty of time wasters, but none more debilitating than this.

A few days ago, I wrote about negativity. Having a negative outlook on life is one thing, but it’s even worse to have a negative view of ourselves.

Fact

God wants our thoughts to generate inner peace, joy, and confidence in our abilities.

The enemy tries its best to get us to dwell on self-destructive thoughts. These thoughts are nothing but time wasters and often create anxiety that becomes mental paralysis if we aren’t careful.

Solution

I’ve always dealt with a “negative committee in my head.” Occasionally, I visualize myself “firing” the committee members talking negatively to me.

This sounds corny, but it works most of the time.

Truth

Our days are numbered, and we are living on borrowed time. Therefore, don’t waste a minute of your life talking crap to yourself–talk truth, hope, and possibilities…and terminate the crazy committee members in your head as often as you need. 🙂

More Truth

Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
