Courage

“Sometimes you don’t realize your own strength until you come face to face with your greatest weakness.”  ~Susan Gale

As we continue on our trek of finding and living our God-Purpose I am reminded of a very important attribute we must develop along the way and that is courage.

I can relate big time to the opening quote by Susan Gale.

I believe I’ve shared with you all the tremendous amount of fright I once had when it came to speaking publicly.  It came to a head during my final year of pharmacy school when I had to present a study I did on a disease state.  I presented to my professor, a couple of doctors  and nurses and some fellow pharmacy students.  For twenty straight minutes I stuttered, stammered, shook and perspired my way through the presentation.  I WAS HORRIBLE!!!

Thirty years later I’ve never seen a microphone I didn’t like.  🙂

There are two things I did in order to get this public speaking phobia fixed:  I turned this weakness over to God continuously and asked him to help me overcome it and I practiced doing the things I needed to do in order to get it fixed.

What is your greatest weakness?  Do you have confidence issues?  Are you co-dependent (always trying to fix other people, places and things)?  Are you sensitive and easily hurt?  Do you procrastinate?  Are you a perfectionist?  Do you spend more time looking for the speck in your brother or sister’s eye than you do your own?  Are you a glutton?  Are you easily intimidated?  Do you have trouble carrying on a conversation?

It is time to come face to face with your weakness.  I have found the only way to fix a weakness is to pay attention to it.  Name whatever your weakness is, claim whatever your weakness is and dump it to God on a daily basis.

Name it-Claim it-Dump it

And of course–Practice, practice, practice whatever you need to do in order to overcome this weakness.

What gets paid attention to will eventually get fixed.
