What Are You Looking For?

If you are looking for an excuse, you will always find one. If you are looking for an opportunity, you will always find one.

— Mark Batterson —

Reflection

Have you ever noticed how your eyes always seem to see that which is at the forefront of your mind?

Fact

That is how our mind works.

We see what we are looking for, and as Batterson states in the opening quote, “If we are looking for excuses, we will find them. If we are looking for opportunities, we will find them.”

The same holds true for …

If we look for the good in our circumstances, we will find it.

If we look for the bad in our circumstances, we will find it.

If we look for beauty in the world, we will see it.

If we look for the ugly in the world, we will see it.

If we look for the good in others, we will find it.

If we look for the bad in others, we will find it.

My Point

We see whatever we are looking for, and what we are looking for depends upon whose perspective we view the world from—God’s or ours.

Thus, we try our best to start, continue, and end each day from Christ’s perspective.

Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
