Cling to Him

Faith is not the clinging to a shrine but an endless pilgrimage of the heart.

— Abraham Joshua Heschel —

When I saw the opening quote I thought that if there is one lesson I’ve learned over the past twelve months it is to never “cling” to anything other than my faith.

People, places, and things can be ripped out of our hands in an instant.

Nothing can take our faith from us.

The world is pretty “clingy” right now.

More specifically the world does not want to let go of its old ways–its old opinions–its old points of view.

Going into 2020 the world was pretty comfortable.

Then the storms came.

With every storm comes an opportunity to grow or on the converse an opportunity to get further stuck in the old.

The past twelve months have certainly been a pilgrimage of my faith and my heart for the better.

How about you?

Matthew 7:24-27, “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
