Strengths & Others

The gifts given to each individual are given not only for the one who receives, but also for those who can benefit when the gift is shared with others.

— Elder Robert D. Hales —

imageThis is day 19 on our journey of building our life playing field and today we will take a closer look at the strengths and gifts the Good Lord has blessed us with.

Just like our guiding principles, our strengths and gifts help create key boundaries/guidelines on our playing field.

I like the quote above as it reminds us that our strengths and gifts are not only for our use, but they are to be used to benefit others.

If you are struggling with naming and claiming your strengths and gifts, I encourage you to go to a couple of websites and take their online assessments.

In fact, even if you were able to list your gifts and strengths, I strongly encourage you to take the assessments.

I don’t know if there is anything more discouraging and challenging than to try to create a playing field that requires strengths we think we have, but don’t.

To identify your strengths I encourage you to go to www.gallupstrengthscenter.com.

There is a $15 fee for taking the Strengthsfinders test but it is well worth the money.  An even better deal for you would be to buy the Strengthsfinders 2.0 book by Tom Rath.  The test is free with the purchase of a book and the book is available on Amazon (click link above).  The book will give you clarity around your strengths.

To identify your spiritual gifts, I like the spiritual gifts assessment found at www.spiritualgiftstest.com.   This test is free.
