Character

Character isn't something you were born with and can't change, like your fingerprints. It's something you weren't born with and must take responsibility for forming.

— Jim Rohn —

The opening quote is so true.

Character is something that is weakened or strengthened every day.

Character is built by doing the next right thing one day at a time.

Character is built when we handle the demands of reality without taking shortcuts or cheating.

Character is built when we do things with the right motives.

Character is built when we do something we know we need to do even though we don’t want to do it.

Building character takes work. It’s a lifelong process.

How’s your character?

1 Samuel 16:7, “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him.  For the Lord sees not as man sees:  man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  (ESV)

Prayer for the day: Heavenly Father, give me the strength to do the next right thing, with pure motives, regardless of what the world and my flesh is telling me. In your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
