Dancing with Discomfort

All great changes are preceded by chaos.

— Deepak Chopra —

How many times have you prayed for a change in your life but as soon as things get a little uncomfortable and chaotic you give up and flip back into your comfort zone?

Another lesson I learned while on my Ironman Maryland journey was to ‘dance with uncomfortable.’

There were many training requirements during my Ironman journey that were very uncomfortable. I think I’ve already mentioned how much I hated the ninety minute swims in the evening. What was so amazing is at the end of those swims a deep feeling of accomplishment infiltrated my emotional state and in turn I became mentally stronger.

The swim ended up being the best phase of my Ironman Maryland experience.

Positive change is uncomfortable and a bit chaotic, but uncomfortable and chaotic often leads to bigger and better things…I write from experience.
