BHAC Day 6 – Fear and Mind Management

Unless we are being chased by a deadly animal or deranged human,or face imminent physical harm like falling to our death, fear is just bad management of our mind.

— Brendon Burchard —

A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I were talking about leadership, and the lack there of in the business world.

I shared with her that there are leaders who are leaders because of their position and people have to follow them, and their are leaders who are leaders because people are inspired to follow them because of who they are and what they stand for.

I went on to tell her that the best leaders are mindful leaders. In essence, the best leaders are self-aware and effectively manage their thinking.

I love the opening quote from Brendon Burchard, I pulled it from his book, “The Leadership Manifesto.”

The primary reason most people never follow through on their BHAC’s (Big Hairy Audacious Commitments) is because of the fear of the pain and discomfort associated with taking a step into the unknown.

The primary reason most people follow through on their BHAC’s is because they are able to manage their fear of pain and discomfort by setting their sights on an outcome that is worth chasing.

Achieving a BHAC is all about managing the mind.

For years I’ve managed my ‘projected’ fear of pain and discomfort with prayer and practice.

I’ve done my fair share of public speaking over the years and the reason I am calm whenever I deliver a message is because I have prayed for God’s hand to guide the message every day leading up to it, and I’ve practiced delivering the message several times.

The longer I live, the more I realize that those who lead the most productive, yet peaceful lives, are those who manage their minds the best.

How are you managing your mind in preparation for the achievement of your 2019 BHAC?
