BHAC Day 26 – Peace and Balance

A life in balance is a life at peace.

— JMeyer —

I’ve often heard business leaders say that there is no such thing as having a balanced life when you are a leading a business. To this I say, “Bull Poop.”

Having balance is a choice and being a person who’s been goal driven for most of his life, I know balance can be attained regardless of how challenging our work or even our BHAC’s (Big Hairy Audacious Commitment(s)) may be.

There is nothing worse than losing your life while achieving a dream.

Years ago I created the “Wheel of Life – Focus Areas” tool. I use this tool when I coach people in order to help them assess how balanced their personal life is.

WHEEL OF LIFE – FOCUS AREAS

There are many aspects to our personal life, but none more critical than the five areas in the Wheel of Life.

Spiritual, mental and physical are about your well-being. Are you spiritually, mentally and physically fit?

How is your financial condition? Mismanagement of finances is something that has been going of for years. Money and possessions are the second most referenced topic in the Bible.

How are your key relationships? Are you ‘present?’ Are there people you need to reconnect with? Are there people you need to forgive or need forgiveness from?

Take a few minutes to rate yourself from 1 to 5 in each of the areas.

  1. Rate yourself a 1 in areas you view as being very weak.
  2. Rate yourself a 2 in areas you view as being weak.
  3. Rate yourself a 3 in areas you believe you are average.
  4. Rate yourself a 4 in areas you believe you are strong.
  5. Rate yourself a 5 in areas you believe you are very strong.

If you haven’t decided on your 2019 BHAC yet, maybe you focus on the weak areas of your Wheel of Life.
