September Renewal – Belief and Action

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.

Reflection

Over the past ten years, I’ve spent a significant amount of my professional life assisting organizations with their strategic planning process.

Plans are a dime a dozen…anyone can put a plan together.

The execution of the plan is a different story.

As noted in Picasso’s opening quote, those who execute their plans successfully are driven by two key attributes…

Belief

and

Action

They create a plan that they believe will take them to a higher level, which will help them differentiate themselves from the competition.

Their fervent belief (as noted in Picasso’s quote) spurs an insatiable desire for action.

Reality

The same holds when we create plans for our personal goals.

Do we believe in the plan?

Said differently, do we believe that the execution of the plan will deliver the results we are shooting for?

More Reality

I always advise those I work with to shoot for an 80% execution rate on the plan.

I learned a long time ago that it is too easy to lose belief in the plan if we miss a couple of days and/or deadlines.

Less than 10% of all organizations with strategic plans actually complete the plan…my guess is they get hung up on the need to achieve 100% execution, and when they get sidetracked, they give up.

Finally

Any plan I’ve ever put together for myself, I include God in the journey.

I place it in His hands daily and ask Him to give me the focus, strength, and energy I need to execute it.

Questions

Do you desire to grow in some aspect of your life?

Do you have a plan to assist you in achieving your growth goal(s)?

Do you believe in the plan?

Have you placed the plan in God’s hands?

If you answered yes to the above four questions… take action…at least 80% of the time.

You’ll be amazed before you are halfway through…I always write from experience.

Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”

P.E.A.C.E.ful Living…

Plan – A dream/goal remains a dream until it is put into writing. Putting your dream or goal in writing is the first step in creating a PLAN to achieve it. When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Effort – Turning your dream/goal into reality requires a commitment to putting forth consistent and focused EFFORT toward the execution of your plan. Nothing great in life happens without working hard.

Attitude – Your chances of achieving your dream are exponentially increased if you believe you will achieve it. Always remember that your ATTITUDE determines your altitude in life.

Community – Nothing great in life happens by doing it alone. The chances of achieving your dream expand as your COMMUNITY of positive mentors and coaches expand. You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with…and yes, spending time with “people” through books and instructional videos factors into your average.

Energy – Chasing and achieving your dream requires optimal levels of mental, physical, and spiritual ENERGY. Take care of yourself; no one else will.
