When I saw this quote I was reminded of something I read in Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” years ago.
Covey was talking about integrity and he wrote that growth in personal integrity begins by keeping the promises we make to ourselves and others.
If I could add a bit of meat to the bones of Aurelius’ opening quote I would say, “A good life is assembled upon the promises we keep and the positive actions we take.”
What promises have you made to yourself and others?
Are you keeping them?
Are your actions today helping you assemble a good life for tomorrow?
Proverbs 10:9, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”
