As You Thinketh

Self-control is strength. Right thought is mastery. Calmness is power.

— James Allen —

A couple of days ago God nudged me to text a friend who has been in the trenches since day one of this pandemic.

Out of respect for her anonymity, I will not reveal what she does but I can say she leads an organization that keeps people alive and the work she and her staff has put forth the past couple of months has been nothing short of heroic.

Her response to my text opened the tear ducts of my eyes as she shared some very heavy challenges she’s had to face recently.

These challenges almost caused her to throw in the towel as she stated, “I wanted to walk out. I felt beaten. But the truth is, not even the devil himself could keep me from this work.”

What work is the devil trying to prevent you from performing?

Our thoughts are so powerful and when we are down the devil tries his best to jump in our heads.

The Lord will jump in our heads and beat the snot out of the devil if we ask Him.

I always write from experience.

Back to the opening quote.

Self Control + Right Thought = Calm

…an equation all of us should be working hard on these days.

Romans 8:5-6, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”
