Don’t Believe It – Day 11 – Life Ain’t Fair

The longer I live, the more convinced I become that life isn't fair. The longer I follow Jesus, the more convinced I become that eternity is.

The Lie

“Life is supposed to be fair.”

Reflection

Over the years, I’ve talked with countless young people at an annual event at our local school, and one point I always make is that life is not always fair.

“Life ain’t fair.”

It’s a hard truth, and most of us have lived it. Some carry burdens they never asked for, while others seem to glide through life untouched.

Illness, loss, disappointment, and broken dreams don’t play by the rules.

Facts

God’s plan was never to spare us from every storm; it was to walk with us through them. Difficult seasons develop perseverance, and (hopefully) draw us closer to Christ.

Soul Search:

  • Am I allowing life’s unfairness to make me bitter or better?
  • How might God be using a current struggle to shape my character and strengthen my faith?

“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
