Reflection
We’re wired for what’s immediate. What’s urgent. What feels good now. That instinct once protected us from predators, but today it can keep us from becoming who we’re called to be.
The long game requires overriding impulse in favor of intention.
To save instead of spend.
To build habits whose rewards may not show up for years.
The people I admire most plant trees, knowing others may sit in the shade.
Soul Search:
- Am I making decisions based on what feels good now or what will be good in the long term?
- What short-term sacrifice would most benefit my future self?
“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” — Galatians 6:8 (NIV)
