Life Playing Field & Focus Areas

I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.

Yesterday I wrote about the importance of investing time in preparing ourselves for our Mission so we can achieve our Vision.

Whenever I coach people I have them complete the following exercise:    Wheel of Life Focus Areas   (Click on the link, download, print and take a stab at filling it out.

The Wheel of Life Focus Areas exercise forces you take a close look at five key areas of your life.

  1. Spiritual
  2. Emotional/Mental
  3. Physical
  4. Key Relationships
  5. Finances

I begin each year by writing down goals for each of these areas and I look at these goals every day and reflect on my progress.

I know when I’m responsibly taking care of these five areas of my life, I have a much better chance of carrying out my Mission in order to achieve my Vision.

WHEEL OF LIFE – FOCUS AREAS We may have the greatest intentions in the world when it comes to living our purpose and fulfilling our dreams. But the worth of our intentions are greatly reduced if we are unbalanced in any of our LIFE FOCUS AREAS: Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Relational, Financial.

WHEEL OF LIFE – FOCUS AREAS
We may have the greatest intentions in the world when it comes to living our purpose and fulfilling our dreams.
But the worth of our intentions are greatly reduced if we are unbalanced in any of our LIFE FOCUS AREAS: Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Relational, Financial.

What are you doing to strengthen your spiritual state?

What are you doing to strengthen your emotional state?

What are you doing to strengthen your physical state?

What are you doing to strengthen your financial condition?

What are you doing to strengthen your key relationships?

I’ve seen a fair share of people lose track of these key areas while chasing a dream.

No dream is worth losing your life over.
