Prepare Your Fields

Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house.

— Proverbs 24:27 (NLT) —

Due to the instant gratification world we live in, I observe people building houses (their lives) with little to no planning and preparation.

I do strategic planning with organizations and individuals for a living.

It is not easy for people to plan.

Strategic planning in its simplest form is casting a vision and creating a plan to achieve the vision.  A dream with a plan is a vision.  A dream with no plan is hallucination.

So many people fail to plan and their lives are reflective of this.

Planning is not easy, in fact it is hard but if you are trying to build a solid house (your life) it is worth the effort.

Where do you want to go?

What do you need to do to get there?

When will you arrive?

Answering these three questions is the beginning of a solid plan.

One other thought…plans are worthless if they aren’t executed.

“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.”  ~Alan Lakein

Do you plan your life or does life plan you?

Proverbs 21:5, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”

Heavenly Father, please give me the desire and willingness to look ahead and plan the life You want me to live. Once I have this plan, please give me the courage and strength to execute it. It’s in Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
