Reflection:
A few days ago, we lost a family friend.
I’ve been wrestling with his passing—mostly because I don’t know where he stood in his faith. He kept his illness private, and by the time I visited, all I could do was hold his hand and pray Jesus would welcome him home.
That uncertainty stirred a deep fear in me. Not knowing where a soul will spend eternity can shake you.
Then I read 1 John 4:18, and it settled my heart–“There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.”
Note to Self:
God’s love is greater than our questions. I have to trust His mercy reaches places we can’t see.
Fear thrives in the absence of love, but God’s perfect love casts it out. I don’t have to earn that love or make sense of everything—just rest in it and let His love sink in until there’s no room left for fear.
Soul Search:
- Are you more focused on your doubts or God’s love?
- What would change if you fully believed you are perfectly loved?
- Where do you need to trust God’s love over your own understanding?
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…” – 1 John 4:18 (NIV)
