Reflection
Although I love an occasional thunderstorm from nature, I don’t like the storms of life.
Who does?
Although I know that working through life’s storms leads to growth, I prefer a gentler path to achieving it.
Flashback
For the first twenty-plus years of my life, I was never directly hit by life’s storms. Then, in my late twenties, a tsunami struck our family.
We faced a miscarriage, I spiraled deeper into addiction, our middle child was born with disabilities, and Lori endured two major surgeries where the word “cancer” hovered in the background.
Looking back, that season became a turning point in my faith. I turned to God more than ever, and my relationship with Him has only grown stronger since.
I often ache for those who face life’s storms without belief in a power greater than themselves, because they are left to weather them alone.
Storms are inevitable.
They shake our foundations, expose our fears, and force us to choose: will the storm master us, or will we trust God to carry us through?
Soul Search
Where do you need to stop resisting the storm and start trusting God to help navigate you through it?
“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.” — Psalm 107:29
