Reflection
Influence is a gift, but fear creeps in when it becomes our identity. I felt that fear when I stepped away from a thirty-year career in pharmacy into an unknown calling centered on life and business coaching.
God was clearly pulling me forward, while I clung tightly to what I had built and known. The hardest thing to let go of wasn’t the job; it was the identity I had formed as a leader in my industry. Once I let that go, I could finally walk away in faith, trusting that God had something better ahead…and boy did He!
We fear losing relevance, voice, or visibility. Yet Scripture reminds us that significance isn’t measured by applause or platforms. John the Baptist shows a better way as he stepped aside with joy so that Christ could be seen more clearly… see the closing scripture.
Letting go of influence doesn’t mean losing purpose; it means realigning it. When our identity is rooted in God rather than recognition, fear loses its grip and the impact of our purpose expands.
