Faith Over Fear – Day 5 – Fear of Change

Nothing can be changed until it is faced.

— James Baldwin —

Reflection
The first step of the Twelve Steps is admitting we are powerless over what holds us captive, and that our lives have become unmanageable. I’ve seen too many lives lost because that admission never came.

While addiction is a disease with a powerful grip, change is often resisted because the pain of the familiar fearfully feels safer than the uncertainty of freedom.

Fear clings to comfort, even when it’s quietly draining life from us. Change threatens routines we’ve learned to depend on, yet Scripture consistently shows God using change as a primary tool for growth.

Lent invites us to face change honestly, not defensively. What feels like loss may actually be God’s doorway to freedom. Trusting Him means believing He’s still at work even when the path feels unfamiliar.

I always write from experience.
