Reflection
I used to be the ultimate control freak.
Then I landed in the pits of hell due to my addiction problem and realized how out of control my “control-freak” life had become.
Fear tightens its grip when we try to manage outcomes, people, and circumstances that belong to God alone. Said differently, because of fear, we try to control people, places, things, and situations we have no control over.
Control masquerades as wisdom, but it often reveals anxiety.
Lent invites us to loosen our clenched fists and practice trust instead.
God does not shame us for our need to control; He gently calls us to surrender it.
When we release control, we don’t fall into chaos; we fall into the hands of a faithful Father who sees what we cannot.

What fears are causing me anxiety from trying to control things outside my control?
Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
